Mayor: Moscow starts development of platform for electric cars
MOSCOW, Jul 6 (PRIME) -- Moscow will start development of its own platform for the Moskvich electric cars simultaneously with the launch of production of cars with the internal combustion engines, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Wednesday while visiting the plant.
“We have outlined a program for the relaunch of work on the plant that now wears the Moskvich brand together with our technological partner. At the first stage, it will be a semi knocked down assembly of cars, while the second stage encompasses deeper localization of this production,” he said.
“Starting from today, we have begun work on creation of our own platform for the Moskvich electric car simultaneously with the process and without waiting for any interim results,” he said.
Car producer Renault Group previously decided to leave Russia, and transferred its stake in Russia’s largest car producer AvtoVAZ to the NAMI State Research Center and the facility Renault Russia to the city of Moscow, which renamed the plant into Moskvich.
